Diabetic Retinopathy


The high proportion of sugar in the blood has a detrimental effect on the capillaries in all organs of the body, particularly the retina.

And increased incidence of diabetic retinal  disease,  with the length of the disease since the rate of incidence is almost 80% after 15 years of diabetes.

And the infection leads to diabetic retinal  disease to lost = of sight in about 35% of patients within 5 years of diabetic retinopathy, especially with lack of interest in the organization of the level of sugar in the blood.


Symptoms of Diabetic Retinopathy :

And is usually appear in late stages of infection, where the vast majority of those infected have no symptoms in the early stages of the disease.


  • Low vision (sudden or gradual).
  • Impressions (views) moving objects in the visual field.
  • View a sudden flash.
  • The emergence of the darkness in the field of vision.
  • Pain inside the eye.

Factors increase the severity of diabetic retinopathy :

  • High blood pressure.
  • Smoking.
  • High fat in the body.
  • Pregnancy.

Should consult an eye doctor at the beginning of diagnosis of diabetes and periodically even if there is no symptoms and to avoid injury to the retina and blindness.

Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy :

And aims to halt the development of the infection and preserve what remains of that vision to the importance of the role of the care level of sugar in the blood to avoid infection and evolution of diabetic retinopathy.
